Dhaka, August 23, 2016: Bangladesh Chhatra (Students) Union on Monday submitted a memorandum to the home ministry and announced a seven-day ultimatum demanding arrest of the killers of the BSU activist Afsana Ferdous.
They also threatened to besiege home ministry and demanded resignation of the home minister if the killers are not arrested within the week.
Earlier on the day, leaders and activists of the left-leaning student organisation brought out a procession from Dhaka University campus towards the secretariat defying barbwire barricade at Doel Chattar.
The protesters also had a clash with police in front of the National Press Club in the capital.
Three activists– Konok Hayat, Abdullah Al Noman, and Rajib Rajkumar– were injured during the clash. BSU president Lucky Akhtar read out the memorandum at the end of the procession.
Two unknown young men left the body of polytechnic institute student Afsana at Al Helal Hospital in Mirpur of the city on Saturday.
Family members of the deceased accused Habibur Rahman, Tejgaon College unit BCL organising secretary, of the murder.
Kafrul police officer in-charge Shikdar M Shamim Hossain said there is no major development in the investigation. He also denied of receiving any forensic or viscera report of the deceased.
